On a fire truck, there is nothing that is put through a more rigorous test than the water pump..
Fire trucks can't put out fires without water, and they need the pump to do that. This is why we do the following tests on the pumps after any repairs or during the annual service:
Dry Vacuum Test:
This test ensures the pump's ability to achieve and maintain a proper vacuum. It's critical for verifying the pump's efficiency and its ability to draft water effectively.
Lubricating All Valves:
Regular lubrication minimizes wear and tear, ensures smooth operation, and prevents valves from seizing due to corrosion or sediment buildup.
Inspecting All Valves, Gauges, and Pump Components:
A thorough visual and functional inspection identifies leaks, damage, or calibration issues. For gauges, accuracy is confirmed to ensure precise readings during operations. All pump components, including seals and couplings, are checked for proper function and wear.
Physical Performance:
We will run the pump through different pressure ranges to inspect for leaks in the piping for the pump, areas with seals and out of any valves. If you would like to learn more about our physical testing process for pumps, click below to be taken to our certifications page.
